Minimal install of Oracle Enterprise Linux not working

I'm trying to do a minimal, single-CD install of Oracle Enterprise Linux R5U4, from which I will build a usable system. Unfortunately there seems to be some sort of bug in both the graphical and text installers; even when I deselect everything except base packages, CDs 2, 3, and 4 are all claimed to be required. Only by deselecting "base" can I get the installer to work with the first CD alone; and that is useless, because deselecting "base" means I don't get Yum in my minimal install, making it quite a pain to build a usable system.

Can someone please help me solve this issue?

Pkgs aren't spread out the way you want/expect; you'll just have to figure out what you want and install it.
Then you can try create your own repo for those pkgs if you want, which may or may not(!) fit on 1 CD. A dvd is simpler, it'll have enough room.
You'll likely need one or more of the yum list examples here http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-2531

Hi,

What are you trying to accomplish? If you need it for Oracle dot use the minimal single-CD install. For Oracle you have to install following package groups:
GNOME Desktop Environment
Editors
Graphical Internet
Text-based Internet
Development Libraries
Development Tools
Server Configuration Tools
Administration Tools
Base
System Tools
X Window System

OEL is free and great for different tests but for production databases I prefer RHEL.
