kernel alive kernel direct mapping


I just upgraded from RH3 WS to Enterprise 5. I get the following message after selecting the OS in the splash screen:

kernel alive
kernel direct mapping 1000000.. ... (something like that)

The system hangs there for 5+ minutes and eventually boots up. Any idea why this is occurring?

No, but a memory test might be interesting.

The complete message is:

Kernel alive
Kernel direct mapping tables up to: 100000000 @ 8000-d000



The problem seems to come for some graphics cards with the start of the system. We should adapt GRUB with noapic property or to adjust the resolution:
