Installing WinxpPro and Linux Enterprise on Dell Dimension 8400

I want to install a dual boot winxp pro and enterprise linux WS or AS
system on my dell dimension 8400 which I got recently.

I need to install the enterprise version as the application server( bea weblogic) which I want to work on does not support fedora and they provide an install for enterprise linux only.

I had posted a similar issue for winxp and fedora and later found out from weblogic that they provide the software only for enterprise linux.

I do not find any detials of how to install a dual boot system with win xp and enterprise linux. Winxp pro and redhat 9 install is available but I don't know if
thats the same for enterprise linux.

Also the enterprise linux install doc does not have any information on a dual boot system.

Thanks

kmlinux12; here is how i did, p2, 128mb, 40gb machine. MDK8.1 instructions
were leave w as is, install mdk after via partitioning, just reduce w space so that linux will have space it needs. since then no problems, am on that machine now. your choice. just do reading & research on howto prior to making final choice. recommended with sage advise.

If you need an Enterprise Linux check out Whitebox Linux.
http://www.whiteboxlinux.org/

Whitebox is basically RHEL with all the Red Hat trademarks and logos removed.

With XP installed & spare disk space available for RHEL
Install RHEL
Choose Custom Install
When asked choose GRUB as the Boot Loader
Used Disk Druid & Use Advanced Partition
You shuld see RHEL will mount windows as a seperate partition
After compleyting you install, GRUB will show you a boot menue with both Windopws & RHEL listed

...done

Are there any issues with Dell Dimension 8400 Hardware or any boot errors with RHEL and XP like they have with a dual boot XP and fedora?

Also I mainly want to do java development on linux so which version of RHEL is suitable for a development environment. i.e. Desktop/AS/ES.

Since Desktop is the cheapest can I use that to do java development?

Thanks
