Installed RHEL in external hard disk.Cannot Boot.
 

I'm just starting with Linux.I have installed RHEL in an external hard disk(40GB). Changed my BIOS to boot from the external disk.The RHEL is initially starting to boot, but then after entering boot password I get the following error and it stops.

VFS: Cannot open root device "LABEL=/" or 00:00
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now what should I do?
Where have I went wrong during installation?
