Install Async driver during RHEL6.5 OS Installation

Hello,

I have a hp blade server with 16G emulex FC HBA.

Async driver for this hba is available on HP website as a .rpm file (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/p...4e#tab-history).

I know how to update the driver after OS installation.

But I want to install the async driver during RHEL 6.5 OS installation.

I found out from google search that I need to create a driver update disk image in order to do this, but I didn't find helpful links to do this from the .rpm file (async driver) available on HP website.

Can somebody help me create driver update disk image from the kmod-elx-lpfc-10.2.340.16-1.rhel6u5.x86_64.rpm file?

Thanks!

RS

have you contacted redhat?
also unless YOU MUST !!! 6.5 is out of date. The current in the 6 series is 6.6

during install there should be a option to add a driver or extra software cd/dvd

You simply copy it to a CD/DVD/USB drive, and during installation, use that as a driver disk. Also, since you're using RHEL 6.5 at a company, you are paying for it RIGHT???

Red Hat can most certainly help you with this, and has ample documentation on their knowledgebase to help you with creating a driver disk.

Thanks for replying.

Yes, I have contacted Redhat, our company does not currently have technical assistance subscription with them.

Also, I tried to create an iso image of the .rpm file and mounted it on the virtual media drive. During installation, I entered into the boot prompt and did linux dd command. But I could not get the driver installed this way.

https://access.redhat.com/documentat...image_file-x86

The above link states that the hardware vendor will provide the driver image in an iso format. I contacted hp as well, but it didn't help.

Is there any other way to do it?
