idmapping owner/group on SMB share from multiprotocol filer.
Hi,
I'm trying to do a minimal client side configuration on a fleet of Ubuntu laptops that are NOT joined to the AD. (many of the laptops lacks a proper hostname and the same name are most certainly used on many computers) The AD is Win2016 and the users have all posix-attibutes populated. It also responds to LDAP queries. This is only an interim solution until we are properly set up with a more standardised client. Anyway ... By using mount.cifs I can mount the share using by password or by kerberos ticket. Permissions are correctly enforced by the filer but the ownership and group-belonging of the files are always from the user who performed the mount. Is there a way to solve this by using some cunning LDAP or AD setup with NSS and/or Winbind or sssd, so that the proper owner and group are shown? This desired setup is only needed for idmapping and not for authentication. //Br Christian |

Wow, Linux and Mac beat the Win client. That has to be a first.
Thanks for the heads-up on this. Unfortunately, its 64-bit only for now. |
