i have 2 question in Linux RedHat Enterprist As


i have 2 question in Linux RedHat Enterprist As
1. i can not use mysql and run mysql service & daemon (client & server)
2. my client (windows Xp , Windows 98) can not ftp to connect to my server
why ? please help me. T_T

If you are running RHEL, you should be able to contact Red Hat for support. If you need help from here, please could you be a bit more specific with your questions.

1, I have no idea what the problem is here

2. Is an FTP daemon running ? To check this, do the following
netstat -an | grep LISTEN | grep 21
you should see something like
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:2 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

I would advise against using FTP wherever possible. You would be better off using SFTP (Google for Windows Client software)

all we can really assume is that neither server is actually running. are they installed at all?

to Builder,acid_kewpie and everybody
1. on i use this command
"service mysqld start" and i see this error messages "Time out error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon." and is use this command to see another error log "tail -f /var/log/messages" i see this error messages "Start MySQL : failed" ' what can i do it.
2. when i do this command "netstat -an | grep LISTEN | grep 21" is see "tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:2 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN" how i can continues ?
please help me again ,thank you. T_T
