HP L1506 LCD Monitor- GUI Display gets corrupted while switching from virtual console
Operating System :Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.1 (Tikanga)
LCD Monitor: HP L1506
My default runlevel is 5. When I switch over to virtual consoles; & back to GUI; the GUI screen gets corrupted. I can continue using the virtual consoles. Even; if I press the Ctrl+Alt+Backspace key combination; still the GUI remains corrupted. This scenario occurs irrespective of the desktop environment installed; may it be KDE/GNOME just plain; twm .
I have found out 3 solutions
Just stick to the virtual console
Just stick to the GUI; dont switch over to the virtual consoles
Restart the computer to get back the GUI.
This solution is not plausible. I am in search of better solution.
Thanks.

I'm only guessing but it sounds like a hardware issue, perhaps check the compatibility lists. If possible drop the screen res to 800x600 or the lowest it will allow and retry.
Well. Drop down to 640x480 as well as 800x600. The problem now occurs less frequently. The same behaviour is exhibited on a LCD projector. The machine attached is of; HP make.
