How safe is Courier MTA for enterprise usage?

Hi.

I'm currently looking into other MTA's than Sendmail, and I was wondering how safe the Courier MTA is for enterprise usage on a large scale (ie users are more than 10k).

I've been looking at postfix too and that may be the MTA I will choose, but Courier seems interesting too, although it has not reached a stable 1.0 milestone yet.

So, if you have experience of Courier, and wish to share it with me, please do so

Thx,
/mysteron

Hi mysteron,

Personally I would go with postfix, because it has seen a fair amount of enterprise usage.

An enterprise MTA configuration is not the place to try a new thing you have no experience with (be it proprietary closed source, or open source software). You could set it up on a couple of testing machines and gain some experience with it yourself, and then evaluate it on that basis. One you have gotten to know it, and understand its configuration, bugs and quirks, then you will be ready to consider how appropriate it is.

I chose postfix

Hi.

You are absolutely correct. I chose postfix. Just because it has been more thoroughly tested and used.

Thx,
