Help me !!!!!!!!!

Unable to boot RHEL 5 after SATA install
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey there guys,

I recently got a copy of RHEL 5.1 and after a few initial problems managed to get it installed on my Seagate 80 GB SATA hard drive.

The problem is when I try to boot it it basically says that:

unsupported Chipset (device id : 0671)
VFS cannot find the ext file system on dev DM-0 and cannot mount the file system.
Then it says
mount failed no such file of directory
kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init

Then it freezes at this point.

when installing RHEL 5.1 I had to use the linux "all-generic-ide nopic nolpic" command it worked and my harddrive was detected but after rebooting the above mentioned problem arises.

Please give me a solution.....

My mail id is "manpreet_singh1984@hotmail.com"

Please use suitable and informative thread titles. "Help Me" is of no use whatsoever and says nothign about the kind of problem you are having. Also don't give out your email unless you really like spam.

As acid_kewpie says, saying "help me!!" as a subject isn't very helpful.

Your installation has failed, somehow. Chances are, when you used those installation options to get things going, a disk controller module got loaded that wasn't detected otherwise. That module isn't in your mkinitrd, so your system isn't finding the device(s) it needs, and is crashing.

Try to boot from CD/DVD in 'rescue' mode, and try to boot further from there. Also, you have RedHat Enterprise...you're paying for RedHat support....call them, and they can help you, that's the best solution.

And if you're providing your email address in the hopes that someone will email you a solution....good luck with that.
