I would usually install the RPM for the latest version... is there a hidden meaning to this?

Hello

What do you mean by "which dsniff version should I install" ? Usually the answer is "the latest stable unless you have a good reason not to...". Do you? Is there something that prevents you from installing the latest 2.3 version?

right, a context. i love contexts...

just install from rpm then. there are plenty ready made on repo's like dag, which you can install and start running immediately.

dsniff

Well i have downloaded the dsniff-2.3-2.i386 rpm. but when i ran it displays following error message:

error :failed dependencies
libcrypto.so.0 is needed by dsniff-2.3-2.i386
libssl.so.0 is needed by dsniff-2.3-2.i386

i am using 2.6.9.11-el redhat advanced server 4 version.

now where is the problem:

and when i run locate libcrypto command:it displays

/usr/lib/libcrypto.so.4
/usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7a

and so

and same is with locate libssl

/usr/lib/libssl3.so
/usr/lib/libssl.a
/lib/libssl.so.4
/lib/libssl.so.0.9.7a

and what s this ????
