disabling serial ports on RHEL3 update 3

how do i disable my serial ports in Linux? I am running RHEL3 update 3 AS on a IBM x365, although I do not think what hardware i am using is relevant.

i want to disable my serial port, I am presuming that I have to comment (#) out a file somewhere. This is a security measure so someone can't plug a modem into my server.

Thanks

The serial port is /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyS1.

Now I guess you can make it readable and writable only to root. Remove rights to group and others . That might do the trick. I haven't tried it though.

Please let us know if you got the solution.
