Question configuring ip address?

i have a pentium D processor when i install rhel5 in my system i am unable to configure ip address?

system-config-network will configure the lan-card for your system.

system-config-network is buggy and produces unreliable results if you ever go back and hand edit, etc.

I'd suggest just learning what files to edit to setup your network, particularly these files for network, DNS, hosts, etc.
