Compiling rpmdb-redhat

I've been trying to compile/build the rpm for 3 months now. I've had no luck so far. can anyone help decide what's wrong below?

Installing rpmdb-redhat-4-0.20050525.src.rpm
warning: group buildsys does not exist - using root
Executing(%prep): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.66823
+ umask 022
+ cd /usr/src/redhat/BUILD
+ LANG=C
+ export LANG
+ unset DISPLAY
+ '[' -d '%{rpmdbtree}' ']'
+ echo 'This specfile needs access to %{rpmdbtree}/i386/Redhat/RPMS'
This specfile needs access to %{rpmdbtree}/i386/Redhat/RPMS
+ exit 1
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.66823 (%prep)

RPM build errors:
group buildsys does not exist - using root
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.66823 (%prep)

Try going to this web site: http://www2.uibk.ac.at/zid/software/...inux/#software

and downloading the "Red Hat Enterprise Linux Rebuild mini-HOWTO" PDF file. After readin the document try using 4.1 as your guide to rebuilding the rpmdb package.

Good Luck,
John
