cant uninstall mysql-4.1.20-1.RHEL4.1.i386

when I run rpm -e mysql-4.1.20-1.RHEL4.1.i386 I get error: Failed dependencies: is needed by (installed) cyrus-sasl-sql-2.1.19-5.EL4.i386 is needed by (installed) dovecot-0.99.11-2.EL4.1.i386 is needed by (installed) perl-DBD-MySQL-2.9004-3.1.i386 is needed by (installed) php-mysql-4.3.9-3.12.i386
Im running Red hat enterprize 4.3

a)Im afraid that Im tinkering with the functionality of my email server when I see that dovecot needs a file that Im trying to uninstall
b)if uninstalling it is ok, how do I do it, since the rpm -e failed?
