We have a mix of RedHat-9 and Windows-XP systems. We need to establish a centralized domain controller that will span Windows, Linux, and SGI systems. I would like to use Linux, maybe move to Fedora Core, but I'm not sure what possible solutions exists going down that path? I would prefer to stay away from using Windows-Server if I can. Any suggestions? Do I need to go the Enterprize route?
This is on a private research network with about 200 systems. Just need basic account management, file/disk sharing, system log accounting. We need to use static IPs, and all systems are in the hosts files, so no DNS required. Would like a way to centralize patch/rpm updates to be pushed out, and update virus def files if possible?
