[3:0:0:0] tape IBM ULT3580-TD4 77B1 /dev/st0
[3:0:0:1] mediumx IBM 3573-TL 4.40 -

[root@backup]# cat /proc/scsi/scsi

[root@backup]# mt -f /dev/st0 status
SCSI 2 tape drive:
File number=-1, block number=-1, partition=0.
Tape block size 0 bytes. Density code 0x0 (default).
Soft error count since last status=0
General status bits on (50000):
DR_OPEN IM_REP_EN

Thanks for any advice.

I have read manual but I have problem with tape driver:

[root@backup]# btape -c /etc/bacula/bacula-sd.conf /dev/nst0
Tape block granularity is 1024 bytes.
btape: butil.c:284 Using device: "/dev/nst0" for writing.
22-May 13:07 btape: Fatal Error at device.c:298 because:
dev open failed: dev.c:491 Unable to open device "ULT3580-TD4" (/dev/nst0): ERR=No medium found

22-May 13:07 btape JobId 0: Fatal error: butil.c:193 Cannot open "ULT3580-TD4" (/dev/nst0)

Could you try another tape. Or maybe the tape needs to be formatted.

You might want to start with the basic tape cmd mt http://linux.die.net/man/1/mt and try a few things just to get the concepts straight.
.
You can also have a go with this page http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-t...command-howto/ which gives example usages of mt & tar
