automated tool which will display Software installed on Unix Box


Hi,

I want to know a tool in windows or unix based which will display software installed on Unix Box(Solaris,AIX,Linux,HP-UX)

It is a little more complicated than all that. The different Unix variants (and even then, the different Linux variants) use different approaches to managing installed software. There isn't one fool-proof way to determine everything installed on a particular machine.

You can check if an individual binary is installed (assuming it is installed properly) by trying to run it, but this is obviously not the ideal way to be checking for installed software.

Most, if not all of the *nux systems are disciplined as far as keeping things in files is concerned. So one can display all the installed binaries and scripts using grep and ls.

I use this across all of my *NIX's

It will give you and html report of all installed software and then some

doublejoon, thanks for posting that link. I've already installed it on a test box and have played around with it some. Definitely can see a use for that product.
