Question ASE master db on raw device?

Hi

I am trying to install ASE 12.5.2 on Suse 9 ES. During the installation, on the Confgure New Adaptive Server screen, you choose the location of your master device. I want this to be on one of the raw devices I created (/dev/raw/raw1), so I delete the default option of /opt/sybase/data/master.dat and I enter /dev/raw/raw1/master.dat
Two screens later (after the confirm screen) it complains and say "/dev/raw/raw1 is not a directory".

How can I install ASE so that the master db is on a raw device?

TIA

Gerhard
