Hi,

I am trying to install 5.4 Scientific Linux LiveCD on my
ThinkPad, but it appears to be stuck at copying /usr onto
the hard drive during the install.

Has anyone experienced the same?

There should be an equivalent CentOS distro. Perhaps trying that would be revealing.

There is a live CentOS 5.4 cd too.
+ a very small netinstall iso : only 8.9 MB,
which of course will behave very different from the live cd.

And by the way, I had no problems with the live
Scientific SL 53, may be they changed something,
or your copy isn't perfect ?

The new Scientific livecd is made with Linux Live scripts and boots similar to Slax
I couldn't get it to boot off usb...
I didn't burn it to cd yet though...

Hi,

I downloaded the livecd iso image again and tried burning it
several times, and the install now works.
