Cool Video Benchmarking SBC`s

Hi all.
I`ve made a video about benchmarking SBC`s.
I tried to find the best benchmark tool, but none are perfect.
Here my video. I hope you`ll like it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZMHo3bVnOo

In attachment my text file with all the data.

Thank you, greetings.

thanks for linking your videos here on LQ.

i think i misread the title - i thought this was about benchmarking the video (GPU) capabilities of various SBCs.
did you do that also?
that's a complex interplay of hardware and software (gpu drivers with or without access to hardware accel, distros), additionally also content shown (e.g. HEVC video)...
i'm more interested in video playback than gaming.

Hi ondoho.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. Now I see that it can be red like that.
I haven`t done any GPU performance benchmarks yet. This is also not easy, and also not always useful.
With SBC`s it indeed all depends on the availabillity of open source gpu drivers. For some boards this is ok, some others will never have them.

So I could test them for opengl speed and so. But that doesn`t mean it`s useful.

I can say the Rock64 has decent video playback, tinkerboard, Odroid C2, Raspberry Pi(with KWEB).

For me the NanoPi M4 is the best all round. Perfect youtube playback. Stable, fast, USB3, great heatsink, ...
The first one where everything is good. The others all have a flaw.
The Rock64 has become a lot better because it`s now possible to clock it at 1.5Ghz instead of 1.3Ghz.

I`ve made a Review video about them all. Just check my Channel for it.
Thank you for your comment. Greetings.
NicoD

Edit: I can`t change the title. Video : Benchmarking SBC`s (would be better)

not necessarily open source.

for me personally, media playback is most important. not sure if opengl testing covers that.
things like HEVC codec for example are VERY resource intensive, and if the GPU doesn't offer decoding that, it will bring most SBCs to their knees i guess.

can you define "perfect youtube playback"? absolutely stutter free? all resolutions? in browser or media player? which browser?

PS:
i just tried to find out if the pinebook uses rock64 or not.
very confused; it says it uses pine64A, but that's not the same as rock64 i guess?

In Firefox it`s perfect without any lost frames in 1080p with the M4. Chromium is 2/3 lost frames. Vivaldi browser 1/3 lost frames. Best for browsing the web.

Pinebook is indeed not the Rock64 but Pine64. Not as good. Very low performance compared to oher sbc`s. You can make an sbc laptop cheaply yourself.
I`ve got one with my Odroid C2, a 7" 1024x600 display, a 26800mAh powerbank an a rii8 mini keyboard.

And now a new one with a 1080p 13.3" display, same power bank and my NanoPi M4. I use a breadbox for the first one. For the second I still have to make a case.

Here you can see al this usin it while traveling. I didn`t have the M4 yet then.

It doesn`t look good. But it all works great. With 1 such powerbank 15hours of fun. I`ve got 2 big ones and 2 solar panels to charge it. So I`ve always have power.

Greetings

nano pi m4. got it.
that is definitely much better than my pinebook, which was a bit of a disappointment with video playback.
interesting detail: it gets even worse while charging.

Last year I went from Belgium to Denmark and back(+2000km). I filmed that, but all in Dutch.
This year I only made a smaller trip thru the North of France. I used it to test my new gear, I didn`t put much effort in filming.
I hope to go to Spain next year. And maybe even further(Africa).
I do this for 20years. I used to have only books to keep me busy. Now my SBC`s keep me company. A great thing to have.
Because I was searching for the best sbc for this I started reviewing them. Now I get my boards for free to review.
So that payed off. I just received a new board to review.

I used to be a mega computer freak when I was young. I worked as a programmer from my 15th. Then got so sick of computers at 25. Now(35) refound that joy with sbc`s.
They bring me back to the early days when you had to configure everything yourself. Some hate that, I love that.

Cheers.
