Using grub to load linux via TFTP

Hello,

Is it wise to use grub to load the ELF linux image (or other format) over TFTP and then run it ?

I do not want to burn the image on flash because I have dozens of CPUs that has ethernet connection to a central computer.

How this is implemented in menu.cfg ?

Thanks.

Book recommendation:

Building Embedded Linux Systems, O'Reilly
<= This discusses custom boot loaders ... and many other closely related issues, in great detail

Please scan through this section before going any further:
Chapter 9. Setting Up the Bootloader
9.1 Bootloaders Galore
9.5 U-Boot

And finally, if you really want to use Grub (and you can), here is the current manual (note: everything is for "grub2" - menu.lst is deprecated):

http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/html_node/
