Upgrading a package in my kernel

Hi,

I'm using a 2.6.36.(4) Embedded kernel.
I would like to upgrade my wireless drivers to support some specific new USB modems. I found that they are supported in the compat-wirelss project.

Now I'm not sure what to do..
Should I diff my kernel with the latest kernel (in kernel.org) and take the changes made in the wireless section??
Or should I download and compile the compat-wirelss and disable the mac80211 support from my kernel?

I'm very confused. Can someone help me figure it out?

Thanks!
Hadar

You can upgrade wireless driver and the wireless driver should fit in your kernel.

You should be able to download compat-wirelss and build the required module(s) for your wireless dongle without having to change your kernel.

Normally dirver doesn't release patch when driver upgrades. They will release entire driver code.

I built the compat-wireless as a stand alone driver (Using this method - http://wiki.chumby.com/index.php?tit...mby&oldid=2962).

Thanks for your help guys!!
