uncompressing linux... cost too long

Hi ,all
I've compiled the kernel which the version is 2.6.38.8,after burn the image to flash, found that, the period between "Uncompressing linux..." and "done, booting the kernel" cost too long ,almost cost 15 seconds. I've tried other version, eg, 3.2.43, only cost 1 seconds.
Could you there give any advice?
Thank you very much.

Depends on a lot of things. Like how fast a processor-machine that you have, what you compiled into the kernel. Also are you booting from flash, that will take a while.

How big is your kernel image? What distribution are you using? Are you booting it from Hard drive or flash drive?
