ultra small key/input device for grub and bios?

I am looking to do a DIY tablet project with a small usb powered touch screen. I want to find a way to append some basic functional keys for using GRUB, and if I can manage it would love to be able to navigate the bios as well.

I have been shopping around and I haven't found much. It need to be USB powered. Ideally it would be about an inch wide (2cm or so), very thin, and support at a minimum up and down arrow keys and enter, though I would prefer to have right/left arrow keys, delete, and escape as well. Has anybody seen anything like that? Any ideas for how I might pull this off?

Thanks

If you do not want to use a USB keyboard the only other idea I have is building something with just the necessary keys.
