Slackware on a Beagleboard-xM -> Kernel / Distro mix n' match???

Hello,

I would like to get ARMedSlack running on my Beagle-xM (when I can get it).

I have found a kernel.

My question is, can I use any kernel with any distro image?

My Idea:
Make a the SD card with partition 1 containing MLO and uImage from the link above and put the root fs from ARMedSlack on partition 2.

Am I completely out to lunch? Any thoughts on a better approach?

In principle it should work, in fact I once - in olden days where wireless support was a blessing - used a heavily patched Ubuntu kernel on a Slackware system to get all my hardware working without trouble.

Thanks for the input.

I would like to do this in such a way that I might be able to help others get Slack on the Beagleboard-xM.

I wonder if it would be better to adjust the kernel that is included with ARMedSlack.
