Setting up ALSA SoC with new audiocodec / soundcard

Hey everybody,

I build myself a daughterboard with a CS42448 audio codec for the Beagleboard xM and now would like to make alsa communicating with it.
There was a kernel module, which I could install but Alsa doesn't seem to recognize it by itself. I'm really new to the whole Linux thing and have no clue on how to tell Alsa which audiocodec / soundcard to use. Can any of you guys help me? Maybe with a good tutorial on how to add soundcards to alsa?

Hi Lenni,

I was wondering if you had any luck with the CS42448 codec. I am working with the same codec and the Raspberry Pi and STM32F4 Discovery Board, and finding it really difficult to work with. If you have had any success, would be willing to share some code? Any help would be so greatly appreciated! Thanks!
