Raspbian- No audio when user logs off.

I'm using a RPi3 (Raspbian) for an audio device (analog outputs).

I need it to play audio files (which is working fine, until the user logs off). I need it to play audio files (using cron) when no users are logged in.

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix?

Surely, if you don't have a user, (even if it is user 'nobody'), it won't operate the system, (otherwise anyone could log in & cause havoc). You'll likely want to set user 'nobody's permissions carefully.

(Mind, I'm just a regular user myself, so if it is possible on another system/OS, it should work.)

What music player are you using?

My first suggestion would be to use a command line player like omxplayer. Make sure you use full paths to the music directories.
