Raspberry pi cup prints garbage

HI,
I am trying to install Epson LX-300 dot-matrix printer on raspberry pi 3+. I used cups and generic ESC/P ppd. The printer inserts empty lines between printed lines. How to remedy that?
Here is a sample printout: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JttiXRcgCSzyhB8LA

PS: i'm running raspbian 9

That printer first came out in the last millenium. That makes the design older than many folks posting here .

I'd go hunting for the correct ppd file, bearing in mind that it's a) very old and b) dot matrix, not inkjet or laser. I expect it may have dropped out of cups supplied ppds. This is the easy way.
There _is_ a harder way, but try this first.

Thanks for the reply.
I forgot to mention that i am using a usb-lpt adapter. I tested it with my win10 machine and got same results.
I'll try to find a correct ppd, any ideas where to look?
Thanks

There isn't a Windows 10 driver for your printer available from Epson and therefore it is difficult to say if the problem is hardware or software related. I have had similar printing problems with an Epson LQ-570 many years ago. Do you have an older Windows operating system like Vista where you can test the printer?

Not a definitive test but you should be able to send a text file directly to the printer which might show the same problem.

cat text_file > /dev/usb/lp0 (may also be /dev/usblp0)
