newbie to embedded linux

Hi Guys,

I am new to linux/embedded linux. I have a strong understanding of embedded hardware and C programming. I want to learn linux/ embedded linux. Recently got a board from boradcon EM2400II + 5.6 TFT LCd touch screen.

Can some one please suggest what is the best point to start with. how to set the tool chain, linux os, boot loader, complier. How to develop a small application just a led blink will do to test the setup.

In windows there are various tools + compiler which help you develop an application and then program into the flash.

Can someone please point to some tutorial about how to start with from scratch?

Thanks in advance
tama

Check "Building Embedded Linux Systems" - Karim Yaghmour, et al... should give you a good idea.

Start with Yaghmour and as you find the things that you need to investigate because you don't understand a point- then switch to "Understanding Linux Kernel". I am not of the opinion that one has to be completed in order to read the next one....atleast in this case.

I will recommend two books "Building Embedded Linux System" by Karim Yaghmour et. al and "Embedded Linux Primer" by Christopher Hallinan. I have read them and they are suitable for newbie.
