kernel panic not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
hi,
just now i compile the linux-2.3.32 kernel, and get the kernel panic as the tag showed; first,i used the arm-linux-gnu-gcc crosscompile, gcc versoion 4.5.2; everything goes ok until downloaded the uImage to the target, found "kernel panic:not syncing : Attempted to kill init!". Then i searched the possbile solvtions on the internets, some one told me i should do the following :Kernel Features --->[*] Use the ARM EABI to compile the kernel [*] Allow old ABI binaries to run with this kernel (EXPERIMENTA) so i followed the instuctions, i couldn't make uImage as the result: invalid option `abi=aapcs-linux'; then i searched again, another one told me to use the arm-none-eabi-gcc crosscompile, gcc version 4.5.2; so i installed the EABI, though it' took a long time,i thought it's worlth, long time passed, i got the uImage i wanted, i was so happy for the successful of uImage, download again to my target, nothing changed, i still got the same result: kernel Panic.......; as a newbile of embedded system, i couldn't found the tootcause, can anybody help me out? attched the serial msg: Starting kernel ... Uncompressing Linux....................................................................................... ..................................... done, booting the kernel. [QUOTE=zxlwyx9219;4444343]yes, I saw that error, and i made changes in the kernel, and now i got the wright MTDs:
Creating 4 MTD partitions on "NAND 64MiB 3,3V 8-bit": 0x000000000000-0x000000040000 : "bootloader" 0x000000040000-0x000000060000 : "params" 0x000000060000-0x000000260000 : "kernel" 0x000000260000-0x000004000000 : "root" but still got the wrong msg: Kernel command line: root=/dev/hda1 ro init=/bin/bash console=ttySAC0 //this was my default! i should reset the bootargs! cs89x0:cs89x0_probe(0x0) Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address f600030a pgd = c0004000 [f600030a] *pgd=00000000 i was trying again, focused on the cs89x0:cs89x0_probe founction. Thanks! just now i removed the network card cs89x0 driver from the kernel, and i successed! that proved the problem was on the network driver! |

Welcome to LQ. Hope your time here helps you as much as mine has helped me.
Please put code, command line output, config files, etc. inside [CODE] tags, aka "Code:" blocks. There are 2 ways to generate "Code:" tags:
They will make your posts easier to read, & that will get you more, faster, better answers. -- Help us help you. BTW, You can edit your post(s) to do this retroactively. Please do so soon. Thank you, & again, welcome. Added 2011-09-19 From zxlwyx9219's Profile Quote:
