mount: mounting /dev/mtdblock5 on /altapp failed: Input/output error

But it has worked numerous occasions in the past, am I on a hairy edge of a memory issue?

Thanks for any insight.

Is it possible to erase mtdblock5 ?
How big is it, maybe make it smaller to test first ?

/dev/mtdblock5 is approx. 52MB

It is possible to erase this before mounting, but I don't believe it's something we want to do as it contains our application file system.

I would try first with smaller mtd.
You can always cat /dev/mtd(char)5 > /nfs_disk/mtd5.bin.

I would try to mount mtd5.bin on other system first. And when you have working and tested mtd5.bin you can start to play with your embedded mtd5.
Or create small /mtd6. Write there simple and small jffs2 binary ant mount it.
