How to setup live streaming server/client on embedded linux
Dear fellow coders,
I understand to setup a live streaming service, you'd need to install a server on a remote PC and then stream the videos on the target PC using e.g. VLC player by pointing it to the correct remote PC streaming IP address.
However, to setup streaming server and client on embedded Linux from scratch, are there any good references / at least some clear steps to setup, starting from the source codes?
Best recommendation I'd say is to perform a web search for how to set up a media server on [platform-name] or [linux-distribution] or just in general [linux]. I looked up once how to do stuff like that with a Pi and there were a number of blogs on the subject, but my search was 2 or more years ago. Pretty sure there are different platforms, distributions, and software available. It was both very inclusive on the better blogs I found and also very complicated as far as number of steps and things to do.
I think I'd look at some pc type setups with packages. See how and what they installed and how they configured it. Then you can do the steps for each program you want to build. There are a few folks on LQ that seem to love building from scratch and they are pretty good at it I suspect. Might put a call out to them for some ideas instead of embedded forum???
