Help me: Installing kali for pi 4 not working

So I've tried to put Kali on (2) 32 gig and (1) 14 gig sd card for my Pi 4.
I've followed directions downloading it from Offensive security. Tried using etcher, win32, and rufus on windows and "dd" in a terminal from my raspbian install on my Pi 4. But none of them work. They all fail to validate and then do not boot on my pi.
I've used 3 different sd cards and it's failed on all of them. I also tested installing raspbian onto those cards and it works every time.
I have tried every pi version of kali on the O.S. site and then also tried one from whitedome
Since I follow basically the same process for getting raspbian running I don't see why it keeps failing.

Yes I am new to linux. No I won't be using Kali much. I just want to have to mess around with.

If you're new to Linux, then Kali is not the right distribution for you, it's own developers even say this on it's website. Did you read that part of it? You can even install any of the tools found in Kali on almost any other Linux distribution, and here's how. Or, install Kali on a USB stick, like it's meant to be installed.

You really need to read this sticky thread in any case, as a lot of members here won't be interested in helping you install Kali Linux.

I did read that it's not advised for me to be using it. As I stated I just woukd like to have it to mess around with and practice and learn what little I can for now.
I know that I can install basically all the tools onto other distros but that still does not answer why it's not properly installing on my sd cards.
Again yes I know it's far too advanced for me to fully utilize currently but that doesn't mean I can't learn to use it and shouldn't even look at it does it? It's a free tool that's available so I figure why not have it on a spare sd card to practice on as I learn more.

Let's say I was having this issue with a different distro. What other troubleshooting steps would be suggested then?

And you can learn just as much with a far more suitable distribution. If you really want to learn the tools found in Kali, then as I said above, you can quite easily install them on a far more suitable distribution and learn them the same as in Kali itself. There's nothing special about Kali, but it isn't meant for, nor designed for people who are new to Linux, or general purposes, period.

You said in your first post that you "weren't going to be using Kali very much", are you saying that wasn't really true? Because that's what it sounds like to me. If that was the truth, then why not install a far more suitable distribution, and you can practice as much as you like? Even better, you'll get far more help here if you still run into problems.

Good luck.

Once more. It's a free tool why not have it laying around.

And once more. If this was a different distro what are suggested troubleshooting steps to getting it installed on the sd card for the pi.
That's my real question. Why isn't a distro installing onto my card. I don't necessary care that its kali. I want to know what are the next steps I should take to try and solve this issue.

We love the Raspberry Pi, and judging by the response we got to a late night tweet we sent out last weekend a lot of you love the Pi too!
Because of that, when the Pi 4 dropped we wanted to get Kali supported on it right away.
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

Kali is definitely not recommended if you just want to learn something (messing around/practicing). Kali will make you more trouble than any other "regular" distro. Kali is for professionals, who already know the tools comes with it and really familiar with the configuration/usage of it.

This is a learning curve. You will try first raspbian and other "easy" releases to know how does it work and how does it look like at all (what is the difference between RPi and desktop releases ...). And if you practiced a lot you will be able to install kali and troubleshoot much more easier. Especially you will be able to answer that question (why it's not properly installing on my sd cards).

But returning tou your question:

The first step would be to look for relevant logs and check for anything related to your question. If you really want help you need to post every detail you can collect. Right now we don't know anything about the real issue.
