buildroot images not working with qemu-system-arm

i am building arm versatile_defconfig kernel zImage and rootfs.ext with buildroot but they are not working with qemu.
'qemu-system-arm -M versatilepb -kernel zImage -initrd rootfs.ext2 -append "root=/dev/ram0 rw" -m 128m'
this command gives an error in the qemu emulator 'ram size too big'.
