hello,
ive installed zipslack, and i am having problems booting, ive got it to mount root, but as its about to load i get the following error and info repeatedly:
"INIT: cannot execute /sbin/agetty"
"INIT: ID c2 respawning too fast disabled for 5 minutes"
im not sure, its a fresh install i havent even got to login to the system for the first time, ive never had this problem before so i dunno how to diagnose it
Took a look at my Slackware inittab this morning.
c1-c6 are the standard console login gettys in multiuser mode.
I have encountered the "respawning too fast" message when I have not configured a serial port correctly.
What are the specs for the computer you have Zipslack on? If the specs are not really really low I would suspect some sort of corrupted install. It would seem there is a problem when starting the 2nd virtual terminal is reached. You could also try commenting out (put a "#" in fromt of the line, no quotes) terminals from 2 on and see if that does it. You may need to use a utility floppy or CD to edit the file.

The Zipslack FAQ says that if you get a "cannot open virtual console" error you may not have the correct partition in your bootloader.
Is your error really only for c2 or does it start at c1 and advance through c6?
I would start troubleshooting the bootloader configuration.
Alternately, boot with the Zipslack boot disk and the "root=/dev/hdax ro" option. The disk should display the complete info to boot an installed system.
