YaST2 forgets scanner configuration, and printer prob.
Hello,
I'm using SuSE 8.1 and trying to install my agfa e50 scanner using the YaST2 installer. It installs the scanner and the scanner works. Used in XScanImage. However, next restart of the computer and the scanner no longer works until it has been re-installed.
Also, my deskjet3820 printer doesn't work, I have got the ppd file off linuxprinting.org but the printer doesn't work. I can print off the console with the echo command.
When you have installed the scanner, type "lsmod" and save the output. Then reboot and type "lsmod" and see what is different. The module(s) in the first list but not the second need to be loaded at bootup, try adding them to your startup scripts (should be in /etc/init.d or /etc/rc.d or something like that) or your /etc/modules.conf.
Hello,
Module scanner was not being loaded, I'm new to linux but I thought that the YaST2 thingy would make sure that the scanner module was being loaded as part of the scanner install, silly me!
I have the printer running as well, but I have no idea how!
