XFdrake-errors with testing

I am running Fluxbox 0.1.14 on Mandrake 9.1, XFree 4.3.0 with hardware acceleration.

I open XFdrake, and click on the test button. I get the error message (on Konsole):

Stopping X Font server : OK
Starting X Font server: OK
xfs is not running at /usr/lib/libDrakX/Xconfig/ line 47

at which point XFdrake dies.

Also, after this it appears as though xfs is not running, even though it shows up with a 'ps aux', because when I try to run Emacs, I get a 'no fonts found' error.

If I log out and then back in, this fixes the xfs problem, but I still can't test my XFree configuration.

Any ideas?

Edit: The relevant line from is:
fuzzy_pidofs(qr/\bxfs\b/) or die "xfs is not running";
