xfce4 on suse 9.1 persona
 
hi!

i would like to install xfce4 on my suse 9.1 personal. the one that is included is xfce 3.8...

what packages do i have to intall (rpms) and in what order to make my linux run xfce4

hey well if you actually went to www.xfce.org (not hard) and clicked download then you woulda seen some suse links in rpm format

well thanks for that but it didn't work for some reason. i installed as the doc said, made an start-xfce script as recommended and put an xfce.desktop file in /etc/opt/gnome/dm/Sessions/

i'm sorry that i didn't make more clear on my thread. but there must be something else i have missed...

theres a problem with suse's kdm or whatever u use, even gdm... if u wanna start xfce4, just login to a shell terminal or virtual console to be priecise and type:

I have xfce4 on SuSE 9.1 Personal and it appears in GDM along with KDE, GNOME, Openbox, etc. To make it work I edited the xfce.desktop file in /opt/gnome/share/xsessions and in the lines beginning with "Exec" and "TryExec" I replaced "xfce" with "startxfce4". I don't know if this is the correct way to add xfce to GDM, but it worked for me...
