Windows key to change between ttys

Hi!

Im runnung a debian 2.6.8 stable on a pentium 4 @ work.

My keyboard is qwertz with windows keys.

Im running gdm as a display manager.

Thing is, if I want to go to the tty1 for example, then

ALT STGR (german for the CTRL key) F1 does the trick.

But if I then want to change between the ttys I need to press
WINDOWS-KEY + F2 (F3 a.s.o. respectively).

I already ran dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86, and did NO specifications about meta keys.

Any idea why the WINDOWS KEY is still working and why I cant use ALT-CTRL-F* as all other NORMAL;) debian users?

Any help is appreciated.

10x in advance

I don't run Debian, so have no idea why. But if you want to change this:
Fire up an xterm (or equivalent) and type "xev" xev is the X-windows key evaluator. It's present on my Slackware and Red Hat but missing from my Mandriva, so hope you have it! If it starts, you'll be able to type the Windows key (or any key, for that matter) and discover it's name and scancode. On my system it's called "Super_L" and "Super_R" with keycodes 115 and 116 respectively. You can then grep your preferences/settings files and fine out where it's defined so you can change it!

My other guess is if your setup misses defining the keyboard correctly. Having the wrong keyboard driver defined or setting language as one-off from what you actually wanted can sometimes lead to weird errors.

Hope you get a more directed reply from a debian user! In the meantime, if you're curious about keyboards in general, here's a blog post I did on it.
