Window Placement

I have a monitor running at 800 x 600 pixels. I have noticed several apps that place windows that don't fit the screen size. Sometimes I can not reach the apply or ok buttons at the bottom of dialogs and I can't drag the window up far enough to uncover it.

Any suggestions? Do I have X configured wrong?

Most window managers support this:

Hold down the ALT key and click anywhere on the window (except on buttons) and then move the window until you can see what you want. If it is a particularly big window you may need to do this several times.

Another option would be to setup a virtual screen size that is much bigger than your physical resolution... but that's a different matter.
