Thumbs down Why no other forums?

Why are there no distro specific forums for Red Hat, Mandrake, Caldera, Debian, etc?

I was jumping out of my seat when I saw an area for distro specific forums, but Oh!, what a letdown it was when I saw how few areas there were.

That was as bad as a girle who gets you all worked up then says something like "My parents will be home in a few minutes; they just went to the gas station."

(Speaking from old memories. )

Prolly has a lot to do with the volume of Q's being asked per-distro at the time the forums were organized. But given the current number of threads specific to certain distributions, currently without specific forums, yours is a valid point. Why not suggest it to the moderators?

It's been suggested, and Jeremy has it on the list. I guess bringin it up might be one way to show an interest. However, check the "Suggestions" forum for more info on this. He is also interested in having "official" representatives of the respective distro's. For example, Gerard Beekmans, he's the maintainer (Basically *owner*) of LFS, so he represents the LFS section.

You can always contact Jeremy if you have ideas, he's very open to suggestion it seems.

LQ is only going to create forums for a certain distribution if representatives from that distrobution are interested in being involved. LFS, Connectiva and Slackware all officially support the forums here and giev a lot of input. There are some other distros interested but that is all that have come up as yet.

ALso there is still the point the most questions are not in the slightest bit realted to the distro someone is using, and can then easily lead to horrendous fragmentation of this site imho.

As a few people have mentioned the distro participating at some level has a lot to do with whether there is a forum here. That being said - a few more distros should be coming on soon

Lightbulb Me too!

I'm really glad we have a Slackware specific forum, but like the other members, would also like to see a few more of them implemented when possible.
