Who use Zorin

Can share with me your experience?
Is it nicer than Ubuntu?
I means the abundance of pre-loaded sofewares, GUI interface.

TobiSGD 07-10-2011 05:37 AM

Why don't you just try it? You know of the existence of Live-CDs, don't you?

TigerLinux 07-10-2011 07:08 AM

I not yet downloaded.
Wish to listen to its users' opinions.

Obviously, people using Zorin will like it - otherwise they wouldn't be using it in the first place.
People who don't use Zorin either don't particularly like it or haven't tried it yet.

TigerLinux 07-10-2011 08:36 AM

No feedback means it is an unpopular OS? :)

TobiSGD 07-10-2011 08:40 AM

No feedback means they either don't haven't read your thread or simply don't want to answer to your questions.
Zorin is on place 28 on Distrowatch, so I doubt that it is unpopular.

TigerLinux 07-10-2011 10:07 AM

Why would you trust anyone's opinion other than YOUR OWN??? What you will like/dislike is up to YOU, no one else...I use openSUSE. There are LOTS of other folks who wouldn't touch it. Lots of other folks don't like Ubuntu, Slack, Mandriva, Fedora, etc.

If you want to know if you'll like it, then download it and try it.

TigerLinux 07-11-2011 12:13 AM

I feel that it is unlikely for a Ubuntu user to switch to Zorin. :D

Why not? They seem to be leaving (or at least thinking about leaving) ubuntu in large numbers, mainly thanks to unity...

As an aside, I've used zorin. The core version, not one of the 'premium' versions (aka the 'we want you to pay for it but we dont want to say that, so we'll call it a 'donation'' versions).

It didnt do much for me, and as far as I know the person I installed it for moved on to a different distro.

TigerLinux 07-11-2011 02:57 AM

What's wrong with unity?
It is so good to me.

Just because it is good for you doesn't mean that it is good for everyone.

TigerLinux 07-11-2011 06:16 AM

I do not think Ubuntu development team's IT specialists/engineers are stupid. :D

Who said that? The DE that one chooses to use is totally a matter of taste and how one organizes his/her workflow. Has nothing to do if one is stupid or not.

TigerLinux 07-11-2011 09:59 PM

Now downloading it in office, will run it in Virtualbox.

Canoncial in general, in particular the marketing department, seem to treat us as though we are stupid.

If unity works for you, use it if you want. Dont expect the rest of us to use it for various reasons.

My ubuntu is 32bit,
But the Zorin I downloaded is 64 bit,
can I simulate it in Virtualbox in my Ubuntu?

brianL 07-13-2011 09:29 AM

No.
32 bit guest only on 32 bit host.
32 or 64 bit guest on 64 bit host.

TobiSGD 07-13-2011 10:40 AM

I had no problems to run a 64 bit version of Debian (without GUI) in Virtualbox on a 32 bit host.

TigerLinux 07-13-2011 10:55 AM

i tested, can run, but hanged after the Zorin desktop shows up/

Yeah, you're right. I should have RTFM properly.

I am using Dell Inspiron notebook of intel core i5, i can run zorin from the DVD as live, but after i installed it on the HDD, no problem encountered in installation, but during rebooting, I choose the Zorin os to boot, it hanged half way and can not boot into the OS.
i am not sure why?
The live testing shows that this OS is quite nice.
i wish to use it but it just does not work for me.

TigerLinux 08-05-2011 08:07 PM

Zorin live DVD booting has flashplayer auto activated,
so when you browse to certain websites, it will not prompt you missing plugins
