which Linux distro for an internet cafe machine
I would like to setup a internet cafe machine with linux on it but i dont know which distro to use
has any one tried this before or is currently running a internet cafe machine with a specific distro vannet |
My guess here is that your question on setting up an internet cafe machine is all about knowing how to administer a multi-user system and zero to do with which distro.
Good Luck. |
What he's looking for is probably a distro with a plentiful set of tools for security and networking that aren't hard to administer. I doubt the user would care what distro she/he was using, but the administrator might.

I suggest either RedHat,SUSE, as they are a little easy for newcomers.
You can also try out Mandrake......... |
indeed I would say mandrake as well...

Hi
check also the Kde Kiosk mode howto and the Kiosk Howto http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/HOWTO-INDEX/howtos.html see the motivations in th Kde Kiosk mode; The user should not be able to open an interactive shell (Terminal), or run arbitrary commands, The user should not have a view to the filesystem, so no filemanager, The user should not be able to modify or create files directly by means provided by KDE (no editor, menuedit, etc.). and don't forget to disable the SysRq key also I think it's more about security and restrictions then what distro to use, simply pick the one you know best. good luck |
Yes, I think this could be your thing...
