id liek to have one that has desktop icons and very very user friendly. these people that use this computer will probably have never used a linux distro and would be used to windows xp, but i dont want it to look like windows xp completely. ... make sense?

and do u know of any programs that will allow me to restrict acess to anything except for whats on the desktop?

i believe icewm has desktop icons and it's not too taxing on speed. i don't know about the whole restricting user thing, you should ask it as a separate thread probably

ive allways loved icewm, goto http://themes.freshmeat.net and check out the icewm themes, you will be impressed

anyways back to what u want to do, do you have knowledge of the programs you need to use msn and such?

amsn is a good msn messenger clone, and easy to install
