My dear friend
i guess you did not get my point here. I know these destributions. but i want a comparison report.
thanks in advance

distros are simply collections of applications and themes... i'm not going to research distros for you and provide a comparison chart... maybe someone else already looked that up, otherwise search around (start here)...

all those distros should be easy to use, easy to install, and easy to maintain. ubuntu and mepis are debian based...

so be more precise... what would make you choose one distro over another??

Moved: This has nothing to do with LFS, moving to main Distro's forum. Please post your questions in the most appropiate forums, its really not that hard, we have forum descriptions under each one!

I ran mandrake off and on for a few months, never had the privilage of a complete working installation. (But thats just me)
Tried Slackware and was hooked for about a year and a half. SuSE was nice, but seemed a bit sluggish on my system after using Slackware.
Thought I would give the Debian net install a try, liked it. Tried a few Debian variants and here I am with Mepis as my desktop system and FreeBSD on my other spare box.
Its not so much the disto as to the apps you use. If you have a broad-band connection, pick up a drum of blank CD's and start experimenting. Or you can get reasonably priced package deals with 4 or 5 distro's for around $10 US if I remember right.
It's taken me years to find what I want. So far all I know is what I don't want. It's a journey, that much I can tell you.

The best way to compare and contrast distros is to actually try them out yourself, then decide which one best fits your needs and preferences. Yes, it can take a little time to install and play with each one, but in the end you will have first hand knowledge of what each distro is like, and therefore can make the best decision for yourself. Good luck with it. -- J.W.
