which distro for old computer

i know i should actually fart around for 4 weeks deciding which distro i like, but due to time constraints, i'm not able to do that. i recently aquired an old dell L400c, and i want to put linux on it. obviously, this computer is very old, so i need a distro that's not going to bog down the computer. all that are really going to be on it are an x server, firefox, and an open-office type program, and (maybe) apache. any suggestions?

it wud be better if u cud just give a more detail configuration regarding RAM, HDD, processor, modem details for your laptop. (I have never used a branded PC!!! that's why!)

Hopefully after that, I may be able to provide u with the distro suitable for your Laptop.

You will want version 4.3, instead of the SOHO 5.0 version.

Any distro can be made to run on this if you only install what you need.
