what Linux distro you recommend run in VM inside Parallels for this old mbp

I have this below old Mac with Parallels program for running VMs... but Parallels installed 2013 and since never updated, what Linux distro you recommend run in VM inside Parallels?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Core 2 Duo) - model:Late 2006 – used laptop
RAM: 3GB (Seems 4GB)

Lion mac os x 10.7.4

I think you can take any. My personal favourite at the moment is mint/cinnamon. Debian based and nice. More lightweight would be lubuntu. As you do not have lots of memory you might be better of with that. You can take a look here: http://lubuntu.net/

Parallels 8 can accept what version of Lubuntu??
