What is the best Linux release?

Yo!

Please tell your opinion of best Linux release for personal desktop

It should be good on these...

1. Image manipulation

2. 3d Modeling...( with Povray, blender...etc.)

3. Open office should run smoothly

I have heard that redhat quits as personal desktop...just when I learnt to use it.

Moved: More suitable in Distributions forum where this type of question is asked all the time. A quick search might find your answers before even asking them.

Hello!

I really like Fedora. It's basically Red Hat but with some extras. It comes with OpenOffice.org1.1 and Gimp. Both work very well and very smoothly. I don't think it has Blender prepackaged, but I'm sure it would work just fine if you downloaded the binary. In fact, let me get back to you on that one.... I'm going to try Blender in Fedora right now and see how well it works.

Well, um, Blender didn't work. Not yet, at least. It's crying for a c++ library file. I believe this topic is mentioned in the Fedora threads. You might try that if you believe Fedora is a good option.

Good luck.

If blender doesnot work I have a big problem. But I hope this is problem which will be solved in the future. Lets wait for a few months - a new blender may arrive and it can be compiled too. But if not I need to think some other release like mandrake or debian.
