What distro would work on Pentium 1 75 MHz machine??

Hi all,
I was wondering what distribution would work best on a couple of Penitum 1 75 MHz machines I have back at home. The one has 48 Megabtyes of RAM and the other has 24 Megabytes of Ram with each having a 1 Meg Video card on the motherboard. I'd like some simple gui to use on both of them along with just browsing the internet. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Running GUI on those machines will be quite tight. There's a distribution, however, called Deli Linux which is made exactly for those machines:

Default GUI is IceWM and comes with Dillo Browser. Ive used it on a P1 - 166 /32 RAM myself once and it was pretty solid. Definitely worth a look ;)

Regards!

I f you can lay your hands on mandrake 9.0 it will work on your p1 as i use to run one with man 9.0...
i had 64 meg of ram in the end but that was all my machine would handle...32 was ok but slow...
earlier versions are what you need and not readily available..
pity your not 5 minutes away as io ahve a couple of old distro's
anotherone is susse 6.2 as it was installed on 486 dx4-100 and ran well also...
had others but would have to look for them to remember what they ran on...
as for current versions, well your going to have fun till you find one...

Take a look at damnsmall linux. The distro includes a lot of lighweight apps and is only 50mb. I run it successfully on a P1 133mhz with 80mb ram.

If you can get some more ram you can run the whole thing from ram and it'll be much faster.

i'm using vector on a p1 with 64 megs of ram. icewm looks pretty good and is actually speedy. firefox is a bit of a dog though.
